As the local beauty industry has returned to its former glory with drops by the day, we have taken it into our hands to talk weekly about some of the best beauty launches. Some are noteworthy for their instant results, while others are special simply because they make us feel and look good while looking good themselves.
Here, the top 10 beauty launches that landed on GRAZIA’s beauty desk or piqued our interest this week.
Pictured Above: 1. Wood Works
This sensual woody fragrance, sprinkled with aromatic oak and bay leaves might have you thinking it’s more of an autumn aroma but its surprisingly fresh and bright scent makes it suitable for any occasion or weather. And its slightly masculine dry down courtesy of rich cedar and sandalwood is sure to intrigue so make sure you know how to pronounce its name. Hint: it’s shuh-nay.
Chloé Atelier des Fleurs Chêne EDP, $420 for 150
2. Short Stories
What’s more delightful than using any of this palette’s 12 sparkling jewel shades which boast an effortlessly blendable finish (Editor’s Tip: feel free to use your fingers)? Creating your own love story in your head as you craft looks which can range from a beautifully subdued one to a mega-watt glamorous mug. If you need inspiration to start your own story, we recommend Crimson, Crown, and Fireside before ending it off with Midnight.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Fall Romance Eyeshadow Palette, $88
3. Garden Variety
Do you know the scene in ‘Queen Charlotte’ when Charlotte and George finally do the dirty? We’d like to think she’s wearing this perfume that’s alluringly scented with sensual jasmine, tantalising tonka, and in true Carolina Herrera fashion, the lushness of cocoa. But even if you’re not planning to seduce your emotionally unavailable betrothed, it’s a beautiful scent to wear on days when you mean business.
Carolina Herrera Good Girl Dazzling Garden EDP, $222 for 80ml
4. Heavy Lifter
What a delight it is to come home to this cream after a long day as its creamy texture cushions the under-eye area in refreshing hydration while its rose scent soothes the senses. Formulated with 95% naturally derived ingredients, each has a part to play to lift, smooth, and firm but perhaps, your most favourite result would be how it depuffs immediately thanks to a peptide.
Chantecaille Bio Lifting Eye Cream, $404
5. Glow Up
Aunty Charlotte claims that this cream has the ability to hydrate the skin for up to a 100 hours courtesy of Waterlocking Fusion Technology™️ so you know what this means—it can be a luxurious way to prep the skin before an important night out, a way to efficiently save space in your holiday toiletries bag, or as we like to do it, used daily as a hydrating makeup primer for flawless base application.
Charlotte Tilbury Water Magic Cream, $150
6. Fresh Blend
Blended with moisturising watermelon seed butter and a hibiscus-derived AHA that smoothens without sensitising, a quick application of this lightweight cream is a refreshment on a hot day owing to its, no prizes for guessing, watermelon scent. But it has no sunscreens, so make sure you apply one after that preferably is unscented.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Dream Body Cream, $42
7. Bright Idea
Here’s a pitch that I hope convinces you to try this product out: I asked a fellow editor who has the sleeping habits of a Japanese salaryman (aka awful) if she had a facial done and she mentioned that she was simply wearing this foundation. Combining 33 skincare ingredients like hyaluronic acid and a mix of superfoods which includes skin-protecting Vitamin E, it’s also a delight to wear—a serum-like texture that delivers buildable coverage and a lit-from-within glowy.
M.A.C Studio Radiance Serum-Powered™ Foundation, $76
8. Light Years
We know, we know: Another serum-foundation that gives the skin an incandescent glow. But where the Shiseido one differs from the M.A.C one is how its texture is much lighter and its ingredients like fermented kefir+ and niacinamide which focuses instead on smoothening and plumping. In our opinion, it functions more as a tinted moisturiser so that’s something to consider if you prefer heavier coverage.
Shiseido REVITALESSENCE Skin Glow Foundation, $88
9. Clean Sweep
While we would always recommend doing a double cleanse even if you don’t wear makeup (trust me that sebum, SPF, and pollutants are hard to rid), Shu Uemura has understood that we sometimes commit skincare flaws and has given us a non-stripping foam that thoroughly cleanses like its famous ultime8∞ cleansing oil. A little goes a long way as just a pea-sized amount lathers up to a dense, cushiony foam.
Shu Uemura Ultime8∞ Cleansing Foam, $55
10. Apply Yourself
Who genuinely enjoys repplying sunscreen no matter their formula in our country’s humidity and heat? Well, we don’t so thank you Ultraviolette for delivering a spray that makes climatic sense. It delivers a fine, lightweight SPF 50 mist that instantly dries on the skin and is a pleasure to use on blazing days—it’s also formulated with soothing ingredients like aloe vera, vitamin E, and bisabolol.
Ultraviolette Preen Screen™ SPF50 Reapplication Mist SKINSCREEN™, $45
