There is a certain alchemy to Tokyo in the spring. The air feels lighter, kissed with the delicate perfume of cherry blossoms in full bloom, as cool breezes whisper through the city’s urban poetry. It is this ephemeral beauty that set the stage for Chanel’s luminous new launch: Chance Eau Splendide.

Created by Chanel In-House Perfumer Creator Olivier Polge, this new eau de parfum is the fifth scent to be released under the Chance fragrance family. A radiant symphony of raspberry, rose geranium— harvested in part from Chanel’s storied fields in Grasse—and cedar, it is a celebration of all things joyful and whimsical.
For the uninitiated, the Chance line embodies a state of mind— one that understands that fortune favours the bold; those who dare to seek out opportunities and seize them. First launched 22 years ago by Jacques Polge, Olivier’s father, the line has since become an emblem of youthful boldness and endless possibility. It is this very spirit that infuses Chance Eau Splendide, which also marks Chanel’s first foray into the realm of fruity fragrance.
“When I started to think about Chance Eau Splendide, I understood that the first impression was very important. [It needed to be] something that could grasp your attention right away,” says Polge. And grab our attention, it did. With a strong raspberry accord in its top note, the fragrance carries a fresh, sparkling radiance that lingers on the skin. The fragrance then gradually unfolds into a heart of rose geranium and iris—a blend evocative of fresh, springtime exuberance. Meanwhile, white musk and cedarwood in the base note imbue the scent with a subtly sensual spirit for a lasting impression.
And just as the fragrance opened with a vibrant fruity burst, the event itself unfurled in vivid colour, starting with a cocktail party held from across Tokyo Tower. From the get go, guests were welcomed into the event space with a generous spritzing of the new perfume, a fitting prelude to the evening ahead. Later that evening, the gates to the Chance Eau Splendide universe swung open, unveiling an exclusive first look at the campaign film starring none other than Chanel muse and Belgian chanteuse, Angèle.
Since joining the Chanel family in 2020, Angèle has embodied the maison’s singular blend of charm and irreverence. In the campaign, her magnetic energy animates the fragrance’s vibrant character. She dances, she sings, she sparkles—capturing the very spirit of Chance Eau Splendide.

At the cocktail party, Angèle performed a live rendition of A Little More, a song she specially penned herself for the fragrance’s campaign. Performed in English and French, the song speaks of grabbing opportunities as they come—something the artist has been doing since her earliest days.
“I was always trying to give myself as many opportunities as I could. Even 10 years ago, I was posting videos of me singing on social media, which was not really common at the time,” she recalls. “Each time you try something new, you have a chance to fail or succeed, but [you’re also giving] yourself new chances and new hope.”
Polge echoes this sentiment: “I believe that chance works as a kind of trigger, it can strike you and you can create your own chance too. It goes hand in hand with intuition, self-confidence, and a sort of cheerfulness about our surroundings.”

True to Chanel’s impeccable sense of drama and detail, Tokyo Tower was transformed into a glowing totem of purple light, a collaboration with celebrated Japanese lighting artist Motoko Ishii. Even as a light rain misted the city, the tower shimmered— an ethereal homage to the new scent’s spirited heart.

Naturally, the occasion drew a luminous guest list. Alongside Angèle, Thai sensation Ally Nitibhon, Chinese singer-songwriter Shan Yi Chun, Taiwanese jazz songstress 9m88 and Japanese hip hop artist Lana added regional star power to the two-day celebrations in Tokyo.

The festivities continued with an immersive Chance Eau Splendide experience nestled in the heart of Tokyo. Bathed in hues of lilac, the space invited guests to engage in whimsical games of chance, each revealing a bright new facet of the fragrance’s effervescent soul.
As the event drew to a close, one thing was clear: Chance Eau Splendide isn’t just a fragrance—it’s a feeling. Of joy, spontaneity and the quiet magic that unfolds when you take your chance. It is a mood, a moment, a breath of fresh air in full bloom.
