When it comes to beauty, there are no rules—literally. Just before the start of the Cannes Film Festival this year, the organising committee officially banned excessive nudity on the red carpet. Stars invited to the festival were also advised against wearing looks considered to be overtly voluminous. And while these restrictions may have thrown a wrench in the sartorial works of the global stars, no limitations have been set on the beauty front of the festival. And let’s just say that we’re glad, because some of the biggest stars in attendance brought their A-game to the 78th Cannes Film Festival this year. From finger waves to understated apricot tones, the beauty game on the red carpet was stunning to say the least.
Rebecca Armstrong

Rebecca Armstrong turns every event into her personal red carpet, and the Cannes Film Festival was no different. In town with L’Oreal, the GRAZIA Singapore cover star aced not only the easy, breeziness of French Riviera fashion but showed us how she perfectly wears a high ponytail while enjoying a moment by the seaside. For Becky (as she’s often referred to by her fans), the perfect elegant ponytail is wavy and voluminous. And the details are important here: the end of the ponytail should be curled up, to complete the look; and face-framing pieces should be lightly curled but don’t need to be precisely symmetrical. After all, there is a certain ease of spirit in imperfection.
Nychaa

Elegance was the name of the game for Thai star Nychaa. At a gala dinner during the festival, Nychaa kept her makeup look understated and monochromatic. Leaning into soft apricot tones, the actress opted for a diffused peach blush while her lipstick of the day was a glossy, warm shade. And in keeping with the theme of her look, she kept the shadows on her face and eyes to a minimum, only subtly tinting her lids with a matching apricot shade.
Kim Go-Eun

It seems that the pixie cut has been a popular choice amongst stars in recent years—Emma Stone, for instance, famously debuted her cropped pixie at the 2025 Golden Globes. Asian stars have also not been exempt from this trending style, with Korean actress Kim Go-Eun rocking the style since September of 2024. In Cannes, the Guardian star styled her hair with small waves, while keeping her face radiant and clean.
Araya Alberta Hargate

Vintage beauty is always in, according to Araya Alberta Hargate. The Thai celebrity was spotted in Cannes, with L’Oreal, in stunning finger waves that brought a retro glam to the affair. She wore her hair in a low, full bun and added some jazz to the look with the fringe details.
Birce Akalay

Hargate wasn’t the only one loving the look of finger waves. Turkish actress Birce Akalay also wore finger waves at the Cannes Film Festival, with a distinct reference to the flapper girls of the 1920s (the era during which finger waves first became popular). To accomplish this on yourself, it’s important to work with a fine-tooth comb and stronghold gel, especially on locks longer than Akalay.
Laetitia Ky

Artist Laetitia Ky brought her work to the international stage while making an appearance on the French Riviera. The Ivory Coast native recreates age-old hairstyles from African tribes to tell stories of feminism, racial equality and simply tell tales through her innovative cultural homage. For Ky, Cannes 2025 was the perfect backdrop for yet another showstopping hairstyle, which she paired with a bold, gold glitter shadow and kohl liner.
