When we apply our Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum to our complexions each night or a La Mer Lip Balm to our pout every morning, it’s not hard to envision the ways the products are impacting and enhancing our skin. But on a more tangential level, these beauty favourites hold a deeper significance in women’s lives and are making strides to actively shape the future of women’s health.

Indeed, there’s no denying the power brands hold in influencing change, and for 32 years now the Estée Lauder Companies have been at the forefront of breast cancer awareness and advocacy for action in their mission to eradicate one of the most deadly female diseases.

The work of their annual Breast Cancer Campaign began in 1992—a time when conversions about these issues were a rare topic—and are attributed to Estée Lauder’s daughter-in-law and Clinique founder, Evelyn H. Lauder. What started as a fundraising initiative to aid diagnosis and treatment has catapulted into a global moment, with Lauder playing a crucial role in establishing the leading not-for-profit organisation, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and creating the iconic pink ribbon symbol synonymous with the movement. (Lauder sadly passed away from a battle with ovarian cancer in 2011, aged 75.)

Now, in the three decades since the campaign’s inception, the Estée Lauder Companies Charitable Foundation has funded more than $131 million for lifesaving global research, education and medical services to combat a disease that kills nine people each day in Australia alone.

This October, a host of coveted brands across the Estée Lauder Companies stable are making a difference by releasing a range of limited-edition products and donating a portion of proceeds to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Favourites from the likes of Jo Malone, Bobbi Brown and Aveda, to name a few, are going beneath the surface and making a visible difference in the lives of those affected.

It’s surprising to think that something as small as a moisturiser can play a big of role in decreasing mortality rates, providing crucial funding and educating women about the power of prevention and early detection. Helping in any way you can will shift the needle, and the Estée Lauder Companies is making it easy to get involved.

Whether you’re in need of a top-up, beginning your festive season shopping early or looking for a simple way to make a meaningful difference, there are plenty of products that bring new importance to beauty’s transformative power.

Closer to home, the Estée Lauder Companies support Look Good Feel Better, a national cancer-support program, with products for the Confidence Kits for Workshops. It will also support the Garvan Institute of Medical Research’s annual Breast Cancer Symposium by providing a grant to a PhD student or up-and-coming researcher to further study the disease. If you can, purchase something below and help keep more women alive.
