These Genderless Fragrances Are Our Latest Obsessions, And Here’s Why

Who ever said perfumes are bound by gender?

While previously regarded as rare in the fragrance world, it seems that the perfumers are finally hopping onto the genderless fragrance bandwagon. Gendered perfumes—scents designed specially for female or male clients—are not yet considered a thing of the past. But it is undeniable that more perfume houses have been inventing and reinventing familiar favourites to create gender neutral concoctions. So, what better than to introduce some of the best genderless fragrances to add to your scent library in 2024?

Your search is over! Keep on reading to find out which maisons are behind the most stunning gender neutral fragrances of the year. From Prada Beauty to Acqua Di Parma, these five fragrances will transform your vanity, not just with their olfactory offerings, but with their chic bottles.

Prada Beauty’s Infusion de Gingembre

As part of the Les Infusions de Prada range, Prada Beauty has launched a new fragrance with notes of ginger–yes, you read that right. Ginger may not be a common ingredient in most fragrances today, but Prada Beauty has no plans to be ordinary. With a citrus and woody body, this Eau de Parfum carries bright notes of green mandarin and vetiver. The scent is at once vibrant and warm (from the ginger essence), and rests crisply on the skin in Singapore’s climate. The Infusion de Gingembre perfume comes in an elegant yellow-tinted bottle, as an ode to the star ingredient, and its cap is even wrapped in Saffiano leather, for a luxe touch. The perfume bottle can even be customised online or at Prada Beauty boutiques.

Diptyque’s Lilyphéa

French perfume maison Diptyque just launched their new Les Essences de Diptyque, a collection of five scents inspired by some very special nature elements. Our favourite of the bunch? Lilyphéa, a fragrance that pays homage to the leaves of the white water lily. Violet leaves are blended with the soft sweetness of vanilla, then topped off with cardamom for a unique fragrance that only gets better with time. A spritz on the skin, and you’ll soon see how it transforms. For the first time, the Les Essences de Diptyque bottles also mark a departure from the brand’s typical oblong-shaped logo, trading it for a more poetic design.

Aesop’s Virēre

The eleventh addition to Aesop’s fragrance collection is the Virēre Eau de Parfum. In case you didn’t know, all of the fragrances from the Australian beauty label are genderless but this latest launch is a delicious scent to consider for your vanity. Alluring in its greenness, bright citrusy bergamot sits on the top note, while pink pepper and green tea form the heart of the fragrance. The fragrance brings you to vacation mode: basking in the sun under a mighty fig tree. There’s a touch of woodiness to the scent, from the cedar notes but rather than feeling deep and dark, the cedar provides just enough depth. As with other perfumes from Aesop, the Virēre bottle is kept clean and minimal, but don’t let appearances fool you. This scent is nothing if not layered.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s APOM

APOM, which stands for A Part Of Me, is Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s first frangrace, that he initially released in 2009. While this fragrance was released 15 years ago as two separate perfumes—one for women and another for men—, the 2024 iteration of APOM has been reinvented. This time, the fragrance is a gender-neutral scent that combines the strongest facets of the femme and homme versions, for a distinctly MFK touch. APOM marries orange blossom with lavender, ylang ylang and vanilla, for a soft, sensual creation that suits anyone, really. Francis Kurkdjian himself believes that the fragrance truly only comes alive on the skin, so trust that its ambery notes will transform on your skin. The APOM bottle can also be personalised via MFK’s online boutique.

Acqua di Parma’s Luce di Rosa

Rose perfumes may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the latest fragrance from Acqua di Parma proves to be a strong contender in the floral perfume sphere. In addition to the heart note of Bulgarian rose oil, Luce di Rosa taps mandarin and bergamot—ingredients central to the Acqua di Parma profile—and pairs them with the spicy notes of cardamom, black pepper and pink pepper. The result? A balanced floral and woody fragrance that feels warm and luxe. Who knows? Maybe Luce di Rosa will be the scent that transforms your impression of rose-dominated perfumes.
