Following the spectacle that it staged upon the West Lake in Hangzhou last year, Chanel has its sights on an entirely different destination for its upcoming Métiers D’Art show: New York.
The French fashion house will present its Métiers D’Art 2026 fashion show in the Big Apple on 2 December 2025. The collection will be designed by Matthieu Blazy, who was appointed as Chanel’s artistic director of fashion activities in December 2024.
The fashion show will highlight Chanel’s relationship with the city, which began as far back as the 1930s when founder Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel made her first trips across the Atlantic. Former Chanel creative director, the late Karl Lagerfeld, had also staged a Métiers D’Art show dubbed “Paris-New York” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2018, two months before his passing.
“I am delighted that Matthieu Blazy has chosen New York for his first Métiers D’Art show,” said Chanel president Bruno Pavlovsky. “He will make the creative energy of the city he knows so well resonate with the exceptional savoir-faire of the house.”
New York is a special location for Blazy. The French designer lived in the city from 2016 to 2019, when he was the design director of women’s ready-to-wear of Calvin Klein, then helmed by Raf Simons.
The teaser for the Chanel Métiers D’Art 2026 fashion show comes in the form of a vintage New York subway map, adorned with the Chanel logo on top of it.
“[Blazy’s] very enthusiastic about showing in New York,” Pavlovsky told WWD. “It’s a city he knows well, where he’s lived and worked. New York is always a bold choice, because it’s one of the most important cities for us in terms of image and business. Following Matthieu to New York will be full of surprises for everyone.”
The Chanel Métiers D’Art 2026 fashion show will follow Blazy’s official debut at the luxury brand, which will take place in October, during the Spring/Summer 2026 shows at Paris Fashion Week. In November, the French fashion brand will also present its Cruise 2026 collection—first shown at Lake Como—for a second time, with a second runway show in Singapore.
Stay tuned for all the updates on Chanel’s upcoming fashion shows.
