As Wimbledon 2025 nears, the spotlight returns to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC)—home to unforgettable matches and legendary players.

For Rolex Testimonees Belinda Bencic and Garbiñe Muguruza, the tournament is more than just competition. It’s a place that reflects their journeys marked by discipline, perseverance, and memorable milestones.

Both women have experienced the unique magic of Wimbledon: Bencic as a former 2013 Wimbledon girls’ singles champion and Olympic gold medallist who now returns as a new mother and is set to compete in the ladies’ singles draw; and Muguruza as a former world No. 1 and Wimbledon champion who understands the emotional gravity of stepping onto Centre Court with everything at stake.

Beyond their titles and accolades, what binds them is a shared commitment to excellence—an ethos they uphold in tandem with Rolex, a brand that has stood alongside tennis legends across generations.

In exclusive reflections, Bencic and Muguruza speak candidly about the defining moments of their careers, their connection to Wimbledon, and how being part of the Rolex family has shaped their evolution—not only as athletes, but as role models paving the way for the next generation.

On winning the girls’ singles title at Wimbledon in 2013

“Wimbledon is my favourite Grand Slam – it holds something very special in my heart, especially having won the junior title there. I always try my best to play well at Wimbledon and I think sometimes I put a little bit too much pressure on myself, but I still believe that I can achieve a very good result there and kind of complete my dream. Tennis was born at Wimbledon, and I would say that grass is my favourite surface as well.”

On being part of the Rolex family

“My time with Rolex has been wonderful from the first moment that I joined the family. I’m very grateful for the support of Rolex throughout my career but also for their loyalty to other incredible athletes and to tennis as a sport. I feel that Rolex has been there for me every step of the way, supporting me through the ups and downs, which I’m very grateful for. I’ve had injuries, I’ve had great moments such as winning the Olympics, and now as a mother.”

On inspiring others

“I would love to prove that it’s possible to combine the work of a professional athlete with the challenges of motherhood and focusing on your family. I definitely hope that I can be an inspiration for younger players that are trying to figure out how to make those decisions and manage both aspects of their lives because I definitely think it’s possible. Over the coming months, I will do everything I can to make it possible and hopefully I can be an inspiration too.”

On the walk to Centre Court before the ladies’ singles final

“The first time I played the Wimbledon final it felt like I had 15 heart attacks walking through the hallways of the All England Club. It felt like I died 15 times on that walk. But the second time, I was ready. I told myself, “Garbiñe, no one will remember the finalist. You either win or you win—it’s that simple.” The champion gets everything: the prize, the prestige, and the opportunity to realise their dream.”

On playing at Wimbledon

“Wimbledon is unique. There’s really something special about the tournament. It has so much history, almost like tennis began on the grass courts at Wimbledon. There is also the prestige that comes with it. It feels like a royal event, and you can feel the history and weight of the tournament. When you step out onto the lush courts, and there is that hushed silence, you can really feel the size of the moment.”

On Rolex’s support of tennis across the generations

“When you join the Rolex family, you are surrounded by greatness from different generations, and everyone has an inspiring story to tell. You only have to look at the tennis Testimonees, there’s Chris Evert, Björn Borg, Justine Henin and many other players I admire. Even to this day, it still amazes me and it’s just genius. Thanks to Rolex, we can all be in the same room together and share our amazing experiences. We all have something in common: an obsession with excellence.”
