GRAZIA Singapore Turns Two With A Celebration Of Powerful Women Making An Impact

Held at Baia, our Power In Perspective event featured a panel with three leaders from our community: Carrie K. designer Carolyn Kan, Bynd Artisan’s Winnie Chan, and Pupil Office’s Amy Lim

As with everything we do at GRAZIA Singapore, we approached our second anniversary celebrations with a strong sense of purpose and style. On 2 April, we hosted Power In Perspective, a private panel discussion and celebratory luncheon at Baia. With its glamorous interiors and its sweeping views of Marina Bay, the dining lounge and bar at Esplanade Mall was an apt setting to host the inspiring leaders, entrepreneurs, influencers and changemakers of the GRAZIA Singapore community.

The speakers of the afternoon were noteworthy in their own ways: Award-winning designer Carolyn Kan, the woman behind Carrie K., one of Singapore’s most established jewellery brands; fellow entrepreneur Winnie Chan, the co-founder of leather and paper goods company, Bynd Artisan, which marked its 10th anniversary last year—a major milestone for local businesses; and Amy Lim, the founder of Pupil Office, studio director of Studio Periphery, and one of our GRAZIA Game Changers of 2025 for her contributions to the local design scene.

The panel discussion, led by GRAZIA Singapore Editor-in-Chief Pakkee Tan, revolved around the nuances of female leadership, where our speakers offered compelling insights based on years of their personal experience.

Kan talked about creating “brave spaces” in the workplace, where employees are able to share what’s going on in their lives, both professionally and personally, which in turn encourages empathy and better collaboration among colleagues. She added, “It’s not about getting to a goal on your own, but about coming together.”

Chan recounted how seeing “collective leadership” play out in another major company shaped her own approach to running Bynd Artisan. “I have seen firsthand how collective leadership can actually bring about more creative power,” she said. “It really results in shared values and mutual respect, which I think has a lot of benefits for the company.”

Lim sees leadership as the ability to inspire the people you work with to care about the same bottom line. “People need to understand why you do what you’re doing,” she explained. “I think that helps people want to be on board [with your goals].”

While the panel discussion offered valuable advice on how to make an impact in the world, our guests also gained insights on how to be empowered in their personal lives, thanks to complimentary tarot readings from Kelly Lightworker, GRAZIA Singapore’s resident spirituality and holistic wellness advisor.
