At GRAZIA Singapore HQ, the old excites us as much as the new and in this weekly column, we ask our fellow friends, industry-goers and beauty aficionados about the last thing they loved be it trends, products, or even the image they looked at when it came to inspiring themselves.
Here, Lucinda M (@lucy.gccs), a content creator and one of the dreamers behind by Lucy + M Jewellery and Duplet Studio shares some of her lasts.
The last beauty product I finished was The Ritual Serum by Lesse (USD$90, about SGD$121. It is a 100% organic serum that I use overnight before my moisturiser. As I have dry sensitive skin, this serum has helped to calm any redness and irritation from the dryness of working (and sleeping) in an air-conditioned environment.
The last viral makeup/skincare trend I tried was skin cycling. I was honestly terrified of this from experience. But I recently decided to add a low-level retinol-containing serum three times a week to my skincare routine and my skin has never looked more brighter and clearer.
The last beauty product I bought was the OUAI Fine to Medium Hair Treatment Masque ($64). This hair mask is such a good-smelling treat–it totally delivers in terms of hydrating the roots of my hair. I dampen my hair and leave this on for about 30 minutes before hopping into the shower a couple of nights a week.
The last image I looked at for beauty inspiration was a beauty cover of Georgia Fowler. I’ve always loved her style and beauty as both a model and a mother, and this cover of her specifically reminded me that it’s okay to look bare in front of the camera which in turn propelled me to post a very much drafted, bare-faced GRWM reel on my IG.)
The last beauty product I bought again was Anastasia Beverly Hills’s Brow Freeze Brow Styling Wax ($42). I have unkempt, messy brows that I hate to admit as I lack the time to thread them. I used to overdraw my brows a lot, but now I just tweeze off the excess and then use this clear brow wax to define my brows for the day (which is a lot more naturally-looking and low maintenance!)
The last beauty indulgence I treated myself to was a light S perm at my local hairdresser’s at the start of this year My hair was so limp and flat, which is why I usually have my hair up in most photos but recently over the weekends, I’ve been letting my hair down when the weather allows and I’ve never felt more liberated.
The last beauty product I made a holy grail was the Minimalist by Merit Beauty in Sand (USD$38, about SGD$51). It is a clean foundation and concealer stick that offers light to medium coverage depending on how you’d like to use it for the day.
The shade is a direct match to my skin tone, and I use this as a concealer on barely-there days and layer it up to a foundation-like coverage on event days.
The last beauty product I gifted someone was a bottle of J Hannah Nail Polish in Akoya (USD$19, about SGD$25). I gifted this to a very dear friend of mine, as part of a self-care kit I curated for her before her wedding.
J Hannah’s Nail Polishes not only look aesthetic but are also cruelty-free and apply well. I personally love and own the colours Akoya, Miso and Gamay.
The last beauty product that truly impressed me was Olio E Osso’s Lip and Cheek Balm in No. 5 Currant (USD$28, about SGD$38). I’ve had this on my shelf for the longest time! I constantly reach for it and it never runs out.
I love using this to add a bit of colour gloss to my cheeks, lips and sometimes eyelids for that natural, barely-there and effortless look.
The last makeup/skincare trick I taught someone was the Cushion Method—applying moisturiser first, followed by a good active essence. This method was introduced by Rachel of Bedaskin when I purchased the Multi-Active Treatment Essence ($128) (which is also one of my holy grails, btw).
Being a dry-sensitive skin girlie, I was not equipped with the knowledge to use AHA/BHA-containing products in the past but after using this method, it definitely unlocked a glowy complexion for my skin that I’ve been sorely missing out on!
