Jennifer Lawrence is opening up about recent rumours surrounding her face, following a slew of outings in which fans noticed a more ‘lifted’ appearance. In a conversation published in Interview, the actress chats candidly to Kylie Jenner about how learning to harness makeup has been transformative—enough to lead to cosmetic surgery theories.
“It’s incredible what makeup can do because I work with Hung [Vanngo], who overlines the lip, and I call him a plastic surgeon because everybody in the last few months—since I’ve been working with him—is convinced that I’ve had eye surgery,” Lawrence explained to Jenner. “I didn’t have eye surgery. I’m just doing makeup.’”
Jenner reassured the Hunger Games star that she didn’t have the same critique. “I’ve been seeing the pictures. It doesn’t look like that,” she said. “But yeah, it is amazing what makeup can do.”
“I feel sorry for men,” Lawrence then joked. “They’re kind of stuck with what they have.”
Jenner, who has opened up about getting lip fillers at a young age, took the opportunity to set the record straight on her own plastic surgery rumours.
“I did end up getting lip fillers, but it’s also the same with me,” the 26-year-old said. “I’ll see before and after photos [from] when I’m 12 years old versus 26, and my eyebrows are filled differently, I have contour on… How can you compare my 12-year-old face and say I’ve gotten my jaw shaved and eyelids removed?”
Lawrence related to similar comparisons with her younger self. “I have the same thing. I started at 19, so I get the before and after pictures from when [I was] 19 to 30,” she said, explaining that her face has naturally changed over the years. “I grew up. I lost baby weight in my face, and my face changed because I’m aging.”
“Everybody thought I had a nose job… I’ve had the exact same nose. My cheeks got smaller,” she continued.
Jenner has always denied accusations that she has surgically altered her face but did finally touch on her experience of getting lip fillers after years of chalking it up to overlining techniques.
“People think I fully went under the knife and completely reconstructed my face, which is completely false,” she said during a 2019 interview with Paper. “I’m terrified! I would never. They don’t understand what good hair and makeup and, like, fillers can really do.”
The Kardashians star also recently revealed in her family’s reality show that she did undergo breast augmentation surgery at 19 but does hold regrets about it now that she’s a mother to a daughter, Stormi.
“I have a daughter,” she explained while chatting with friend Anastasia Karanikolaou. “I would be heartbroken if she wanted to get her body done at 19.”
