One quick glimpse at Malaysian singer-songwriter Lunadira’s Instagram page and you’d instantly get that she serves great face—a sad-girl take on Euphoria’s kaleidoscopic eye makeup, Y2K-cool in a Blumarine way, and nineties Supermodel bronze and burnished. All this on and off the stage.
In anticipation of her upcoming single titled “BITTER” which drops this Friday, 27th October, we got Lunadira to list down her post-show routine to keep her skin in check, how to spend a day in Kuala Lumpur, and the best beauty tip she has learnt.
1. A skincare treatment that works well in all climates.
My skin gets red easily when I’m not careful with how I apply and remove my makeup, especially when I’m doing back-to-back shows. I’ve been using APRILSKIN’s Carrotene Clarifying Vita Pads ($45) to subdue redness for my skin prep and also for my post-show skincare routine. It also works wonders on my pores.
2. A fail-safe skincare product that can also be used at night.
I always bring my Hada Labo Gokujyun Clear Lotion ($24.90) which has hyaluronic acid—my skin’s best friend! It feels soothing after a long night of unpredictable weather.
3. The best place to people-watch in Kuala Lumpur.
Any event that brings out the art scene crowd to KL, to be honest. You can always find interesting people in the corners of the Zhongshan building, REX KL, and even Petaling Street and Sungei Wang.
The best place for brunch in Kuala Lumpur.
Brunch in Kuala Lumpur can be pretty expensive but I splurge on some good sandwiches and breakfast salads at VCR Stacks every other month.
5. A podcast that inspires her.
I grew up watching The Oprah Winfrey Show with my mum, and I find myself coming back to her podcast with Eckhart Tolle called ‘Essential Teachings’ on Spotify when I need a break from listening to music in the car.
6. The best store in Kuala Lumpur to shop for fashion.
I’m a thrift girlie so anywhere between JBR to 2nd Street to Jalan Jalan Japan!
7. A body product for instantly glowy skin.
I tend to go for intensive hydrating lotions from Vaseline and pair them with my shimmer body spray from Bath & Body Works!
8. Her routine for a post-show cleanse.
I like to remove my makeup with the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm ($64) before using La Roche Posay’s Effaclar Duo+ Cream ($47.90) to make sure I keep my blemishes to a minimum.
9. The best beauty tip someone has taught her.
Your body will care for you only if you care for it.
10. The best way to spend a night in Kuala Lumpur.
Staycations in the city centre are pretty underrated in my opinion. It gives you the chance to be a tourist in your own city and changes your perspective of it, especially if you’re planning to walk around the city.
